Springbrook Summer Green
24″ x 36″ x 2″
Archivally printed photographs, goldenrod gall, hickory nuts, blue spruce branches, nature guide pages, fern, honeysuckle, pin oak and linden leaves, Queen Anne’s lace flower, and acrylic on panel
I began this piece over a year ago on an early morning visit on the summer solstice to Springbrook Prairie. I had my photos of the trees, milkweed, and horse tails printed with archival ink and papers, adhered them onto a poured and painted background. I continued to build it up with a screen print from the botanical page of the encyclopedia of illustration, and texts from the encyclopedia Britannica running from top to bottom about bees, which keep our forest, crops and prairies goin!
