Springbrook Summer Solstice Sunrise: Walking the Prairie
24″ x 48″ x 2″
Giclee print, pages from old botany books, encyclopedias and fossil indexes, acrylic, grasses, monarch wings, and Queen Anne’s Lace on wood panel.
This piece started with a very early morning walk with my camera in tow at the Springbrook Prairie just before the summer solstice. At first I was disappointed at the heavy mist that lingered over everything, thinking it would obscure my photos. But instead it gave them a rather ethereal quality. After editing and having them archival printed, this misty path photo became the focal point of a piece celebrating the prairie in all of its summer glory.
