Springbrook Summer Solstice: What lies Beneath
$510.00
20″ x 10″ x 2″
Giclee photograph, sheet music, pages from antique fossil insect text and botany book, Eco prints and acrylic on wood panel
A photo of cattails backlit by the sunrise on the prairie was the inspiration for this piece. Trailing beneath the photograph is a diagram of the depths of the root systems of native prairie plants. A page from the old botany book referring to the section about marsh plants is embedded in the lower right, and an image of the solar system in the sky refers to earth positioning of the time of the summer solstice. Honey locust leaves are silkscreened on top, and a silhouette of seed pods is stenciled and drawn on.
